Love Marriage - Path of Self Discovery

The opinions are solely mine and please don’t take it too personal. I don’t want to be bombarded with questions. And don’t blame me if I am having an arranged marriage J

This is for every man and woman who understood/understands/will understand the simplicity of words and genuine love. I am writing this for the love that lead/will lead turn to marriage.

Why would I want a love marriage?

Because you would know a person in prior and can have an understanding? Cheesy. Put two boys in a hostel room for three years and they would be ready for marriage. It is not about the “prior” knowledge that sets a love marriage apart but something more and not thought of.

Arranged marriage has thousand benefits of its own and I could put it in words much better than for love marriage.

Which of the men do you want to be in the court of law? The judge or the lawyer? Arranged marriage is where you are the judge while in love marriage, you are the lawyer. Why do you say so? If people at home were to arrange the marriage for you, your highest responsibility would be to accept or reject an offer. You look for the compatibles and much more before you can proceed into the offer. Love marriage is not that way. Love finds you; it is an age old secret of how it is done but it does find you. Compatibility is learnt on the go and then, you convince for the marriage to happen.

In an arranged marriage, you discover one another and try to attach all the strings together leaving behind the differences. Beautiful, is it not? But in a love marriage, you discover yourself. You would not know why you wait for the special person for 2 hours; you just wait. There would be no reason to most of the actions but it happens. Traits like selfish and possessive don’t disappear but you know they exist which you never understood for years.

Sacrifices and adjustment happen in both types of marriages but what is the stake is important. In an arranged marriage, there is a guarantee of things that wait. This is not true in love marriages. When you sacrifice something for another person without even knowing what is at the other end of the tunnel, does it make you a blind fool? Maybe it does and it is for the same unknown magical reason love marriages exist in our country today. Selfless motives behind every action and probably, no right results yet you are willing to take that stride.

Have you understood friendship ever in your life? Why is that sometimes, they are as important as the family or even more? Friendships play an important role in love marriages. No, I am not going into that bollywood and kollywood kind of fantasies. You will understand that friends are there just for you and nothing more or less. They are there for support and are your spine; they exist yet unseen. They would never ask the unnecessary questions are willing to hear to anything you say. You want them. Like never before.

What is being in a relationship mean? An elated feeling of not being alone and someone is there for you? Someone you can cuddle in cold nights and pamper in sunny mornings? Have a pet; it will serve the same purpose. Being in a commitment means you will think twice or more than usual. You will think for yourself and the other. You would know what is to take decisions through heart and not mind. Maybe you got into the relationship through mind, looking at the favorable things but when it comes being in it, you would just not think for yourself alone. Can anything in life teach you to make decisions as good as this? Has your life ever been planned like this?

I often consider that it is the duty of the people in a relationship to convince everyone, including parents. Maybe this is the first time you would have known what you want; so would your parents. There may be clashes or smooth handling depending on the family and beliefs but the first step is to approach the parents. They understand you and you understand yourself better. Among all the chaos, the bond just becomes a bit too tight.

Faith is a good thing. Faith is something that keeps you going. It helps you work towards something that you want so badly. Faith is why human exist and it is found in love. You do everything letting yourself believe that the other person will become yours some day. With love comes a package of emotions that don’t even have names.

Finally, it is the accomplishment that makes a love marriage altogether superior. The efforts that were taken to get that one person into your life will make memories. You went beyond all the conflicts, misunderstandings, no confidence and highest level of persuasion to get what you believed in. Whether this ‘love’ will exist for a long time, I do not know. Love is a beautiful journey.

The Fire Crew !!

A fire starts inside a chemical plant and the alarm goes out to fire departments miles around. After crews have been fighting the fire for over an hour, the chemical company president approached the fire chief and said, "All of our secret formulas are in the vault in the center of the plant. They must be saved! I will give $100,000 to the engine company that brings them out safely!"

The crews try, but no one can get through. Then another fire truck, filled with a volunteer fire company of men over 65, comes roaring down the road and drives straight into the middle of the inferno. The other men watch unbelieving as the old timers hop off of their rig and heroically extinguish the fire, saving the secret formulas.

The company president walks over to reward the volunteers.

"What do you guys plan to do with the money?" the president asks the group.

The firetruck driver looks him right in the eye and answers, "Well, the first thing we're going to do is fix the fucking brakes on that truck."

London and Oslo - The tale of two Airports

London - Home to the world's busiest Airport.

This last winter, Life in England was slowed by Snow. Worst affected was Heathrow, The Airport that is supposedly among the world's best and busiest. Thousands of people were stranded in the airport. They were shutdown for over a week as workers at heathrow said it was impossible to clear snow of that quantity. London had 3 inches of snow at its worst.

Oslo - Capital of Norway

Oslo has the winter season going for nearly 5 months/year. And snow at its worst is close to 30 inches. And compared to heathrow, Oslo has only 1/100th of its facilities and money power. It is like comparing a Benz to a Alto.

The Grass is always Greener on the other side

I know a whole bunch of single people. People who are not in a relationship. Some who have just gotten out of one, some who have never been in one, some who are in something but which is not a relationship and some who I don't know but are single - so I suppose these people don't fall in the "I know a whole bunch of single people" category - but in the "I know Of a whole bunch of single people as well" category. I've heard their stories.

Everyone seems to think the grass is greener on the other side. Well, ofcourse there are exceptions, but then they fall into this very very small category of people who are satisfied at what they have now and that includes me. Well, what makes these people think that the grass is greener on the other side ? I could come up with a lot of answers. And all those answers were from my personal experiences. There was a time when i used to think that everything that happened to me were as unique as my mom's sambhar ( Yes, there is no sambhar in this world as good as and as unique as my mom's ) is in this world. But then i realised it wasn't so, wanting to love, falling in love and all those symptoms around them were pretty much very common around the world. Its just that i realised that very late.


People who are single :

The entire world has opened up / has been open for a while, for them. It works fine for those who aren't looking for a relationship - they just cruise along, have their fun, free of responsibility, of serious thoughts on where to be, how to grow up elegantly and how to not kick and scream as the last light of childhood blinks a couple of times and disappears.

However, its impossible not to think where your life is going. Who will you meet, how will they floor you, and how would you be with them. The heart always searches for that one person who will make bells ring, lights glow, leaves fly, and your heart float in ecstasy. How will you find that person ? Well, you don't. They will come to you, hit you so hard and probably make your heart dance and sing to their music. You won't even know. The chances that an arranged marriage will bring you that person is very unlikely. Just pray you were born with a bag full of luck and chances are that you will find that special person.

People who are in a relationship :

Unless you have a gem of a partner, it is least likely you would not want the relationship to end at some point. You don't have time for yourself, everything in you has been changed to suit your partner's preferences, you can't emote as you would like, and every other person in the opposite sex other than your partner looks a better choice. For you, being single looks heaven. Not everything is as it looks. Things have changed from the point you entered the relationship. And being single is the hardest thing once you could face. You won't have someone to talk to everyday, you won't have someone to appreciate you every single moment, you won't have love. This is when you are at your most vulnerable and chances are that you will make the worst choices of your life during this period.

Unless you are being abused by your partner every single day, unless you don't like to see their face anymore, unless you have another partner, just don't quit, give it one more chance.

People who are in the 3 rd Category :

You are confused. Sambhar tastes like Rasam. People look like zombies. And you want to think you are not fine. Well, you idiots, you are the best placed people. You are single, you can make judgments on experience and you can find the love of your life your way. Or atleast you know how to make your life the way you want. Happy to be in this category. Vodkas are not going to save you, Clear heads will. So heads up and go find your special person. By the law of luck, they are somewhere near you, find them and don't ever let them go. Once lost, you are not going to get them back. Luck waits for none, make the most of it.

What's the bloody point of this post ? Don't ask me. I have no idea. And i really don't prefer grass, I'm more of the beach and sand type :)

Happy Room - Can you make one ?

Aim :

Create a room to feel happy from the bottom of your Heart !!

Where is the bottom ? Under the sink ? Well, I really don't care.

A dream machine. Lets you live ur wildest fantasies and recollect ur best moments. Hasn't been invented yet. So you might have to use a much older and powerful machine commonly known as the "Brain". I'm really sorry if you don't have one.

Woman's Day

As it is being a woman's day, i thought I'd pen down my thoughts on today's woman. Woman, who is she ? Why is it so special being a woman ? Why is she known as the creator and the destroyer ? Why don't men get these superpower names ? There are so many questions. Women are SPECIAL. Its not a myth , its a FACT. Everything a man can do, a woman can do. Everything a woman can do, a man cannot.

A woman can be a creator and a destroyer. She is just another human being. But why does she have special powers ? It is said that God took so much time creating a woman. What he did was take a man, and add special features to him, each feature being handcrafted by GOD himself and thus he had his WOMAN. Most people think that a woman is being referred to a creator because she gives birth to another human being. But what they don't see is her role doesn't stop in creating a baby alone. It is way beyond that. She creates a son/daughter, a husband, a father, a brother, A FAMILY. The role of a mother is the most important one of them all. A mother is to GOD. "Maatha Pitha Guru Dheivam", the mother always comes first. She has the magic, the magic to make man to what he is. There is no substitute in this world to the care of a mother. A bad mother makes a bad family. The care, the love, sacrifices, everything a mother does is unselfish. She has nothing to gain from it, yet she gives it all to her child. The pains of giving birth, nothing a man can do to equate to that. That is why a MOTHER is to GOD. A mother passes her creation to another woman.A wife, she is the pillar of strength to every man. She supports her husband in what he is. She helps him in being stable, in being a GOOD MAN. She raises the family, runs the family. And she has to do all that leaving behind her own family, a family which raised her to what she is.

But why is a woman also sometimes being referred to a destroyer ? One cannot be good and bad at the same time. can they ? A bad mother makes a bad family. No matter how good the father is , or how good the children are, a bad mother will always destroy the family. When the creator is not good, the created are not good. I have seen families where the lady in the house hasn't been good. And all those families have suffered. The children haven't grown up well, the husbands haven't lived well and the family hasn't been talked about well. A mother is to GOD. And when the GOD is selfish, there is love , there is no care and there is no happiness. Well, you might ask what's wrong in a woman being selfish ? Well, my definition of SELFISHNESS might be different. Selfishness i mean, doing things for herself is not selfishness, but when she questions why does she have to care for a child, why does have to love a husband, why does she have to be the creator , that is when she is being selfish. I might sound rude. But i back my opinion. A creator is one with special powers, a power to create, and with special powers come special responsibilities. And that is why WOMEN are special !! And when they can't do that , they are no better than a MAN. A MAN who is selfish almost all the time.

It is sad that this world doesn't realise how special a WOMAN is, celebrating a woman's day is not going to do much for a woman, but when the world truely celebrates womanhood, that is when i will call it a woman's day. A day when every woman is free to chose what she wants to do in life, a day when she will have the freedom to stand up to a man, a day when she will have the liberty to say " HEH MAN, You SUCK ", a day when she realises she is GOD !! The World is changing, women get more respect than they did before, but it is not changing fast enough.

Paul Greengrass

Green Zone - A movie i have been trying to watch for over 6 months now, and somehow i could find time for it only today. The movie had good reviews, word of mouth mostly, and i expected it to deliver. It was the Paul Greengrass - Matt Damon combo that attracted me to it. They were so good with the Bourne Series, and this one was equally good. Start to finish, never did i feel bored. I love these political action thrillers, they are very good. It is my kinda theme, my kinda movie, and that is exactly why my first movie script belongs to that Genre. Oh ye, I am writing one and I have been taking my own sweet time penning it down. Now that I have started my thesis, i rarely find time to continue penning down my script. I really would have liked to be a script writer in the mold of Robert Lludlum and a director in the mold of Greengrass, yet i'm here sitting down , doing my masters in computer science. You don't always get what you want do you ?

Anyway i recommend this movie to anyone who loves Action. Looking forward to lot more from you Mr. Greengrass.
